Wharton County Driving Academy is seeking a reliable and professional Driving Instructor to assist with behind-the-wheel instruction and occasional classroom instruction for teen and adult driver education courses.
This position is primarily a substitute or on-call role, so the schedule can be flexible depending on instructor availability and academy needs. However, instructors should expect to work most Saturdays when classes are scheduled.
Bilingual applicants (English/Spanish) are preferred, as many of our students and families speak Spanish.
Schedule
Typical hours fall between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Schedule is flexible since most assignments are substitute coverage.
Saturday availability is strongly preferred.
If unavailable for a Saturday, advance notice is required.
Responsibilities
Provide behind-the-wheel driving instruction to teen and adult students.
Assist with classroom instruction using academy-provided curriculum.
Follow all Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) guidelines.
Maintain professionalism with students and parents.
Communicate student progress when necessary.
Ensure student safety during all driving sessions.
Training and Licensing
Must obtain the required Texas Driving Instructor License.
Licensing costs will be reimbursed after successful completion.
Training will be provided on academy procedures and curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Valid driver’s license held for at least three years.
Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
No felony convictions.
Must pass background and driving record checks.
Reliable, punctual, and professional.
Comfortable working with teens and adults.
