WGS Systems, LLC is seeking a versatile Network, Systems, and Cybersecurity Administrator to serve as the company’s primary point person for cybersecurity compliance, while also contributing to broader IT, systems, and engineering support.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate, early-career technologist, or accomplished cyber security professional who enjoys variety, wants to develop across multiple technical disciplines, and is motivated to take ownership of our cybersecurity program once trained.
As a small company, our security program is lean and well-scoped — once processes are established, ongoing cybersecurity responsibilities will require roughly 10 hours per week, with remaining time spent supporting systems, IT, engineering, or technician tasks. The candidate will be working in an environment that requires security clearance and working knowledge of Defense Security Services (DSS) requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Cybersecurity (Primary Responsibility)
- Serve as the lead point of contact for maintaining compliance with:
- NIST SP 800-171
- CMMC Level 2
- Internal cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Maintain documentation, evidence, and records required for audits and assessments
- Coordinate with external assessors, MSPs, or security partners when needed
- Oversee vulnerability remediation, patch schedules, and basic security monitoring
- Maintain cybersecurity policies, plans, and standard operating procedures
Systems & Network Support (Secondary Responsibilities)
- Support Linux and Windows system updates, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Assist with maintaining internal network and infrastructure components
- Support virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
- Maintain internal documentation and configuration standards
Engineering / Technical Support (Flexible Depending on Skillset)
- Assist engineering teams with hardware, software, testing, or integration tasks
- Support system imaging, configuration, and product preparation
- Provide hands-on technical support during lab work, demos, or customer engagements
- Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel for technical assistance as required
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- (Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Engineering Technology, etc.)
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Basic experience with Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, or similar)
- Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and own responsibility for cybersecurity compliance
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Windows administration or Active Directory experience
- Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks (NIST 800-171, CMMC)
- Scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with virtualization environments
- Experience with version control or documentation tools
- IT/Cyber certifications (CompTIA Network , Security , CCNA, etc.)

Work environment:
- Work will be performed in an office environment and occasionally at customer sites
- A majority of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with work in other locations in the greater Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C. as required
- Occasional travel will be required
Compensation:
Minimum 67,000 Maximum 137,000
