Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Prefabrication Technician to join our fabrication shop team. This role involves assembling, welding, cutting, and preparing mechanical systems components for delivery to job sites, based on detailed plans and specifications. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and installation crews to ensure all prefabricated assemblies meet our high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping).
- Fabricate assemblies, modules, and subassemblies according to specifications.
- Operate cutting, welding, and threading equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to coordinate delivery and installation schedules.
- Make deliveries if needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
- Track materials usage and report shortages or discrepancies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school training preferred.
- 2 years of experience in mechanical fabrication, pipefitting, or HVAC/plumbing installation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment for cutting, welding, and assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain is an asset.
- Driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL a plus)
Working Conditions
- Shop-based work with occasional site visits.
- Requires lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- PPE required at all times in shop areas.
