JOB SUMMARY / POSITION PURPOSE

The Grants and Institutional Giving Manager position supports WFYI Public Media’s institutional fundraising efforts by securing grant funding that advances WFYI’s mission of trusted journalism, inspiring stories, and lifelong learning.

Working collaboratively across departments, this position helps translate WFYI’s strategic priorities, programs, and community impact into compelling proposals and reports for foundations, government agencies, and other institutional funders and is responsible for ensuring effective grant management, timely deliverables, and compliance with funder requirements.

WORK LOCATION, TRAVEL AND SCHEDULING

This position’s work location will be primarily at WFYI’s main office in Indianapolis, Indiana, with flexibility for limited meetings and events as needed.
Travel may be required for meetings with funders, community partners, program staff, or other organizational stakeholders and for participation in events related to fundraising and stewardship or professional development.
This position’s schedule will generally align with WFYI’s normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Evening or weekend work may be required to support fundraising events, board or committee meetings, grant deadlines, or other organizational needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the education and experience described below.
    Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Three or more years of professional experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, nonprofit development, public funding, or a related field, including experience preparing or coordinating grant proposals, reports, and supporting materials for foundations, government agencies, or other institutional funders.

    Highly Desirable:

• Experience in nonprofit fundraising, public media, arts, journalism, education, or other mission-driven organizations is highly desirable.

LICENSE AND INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual may be required have and maintain a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory motor vehicle record and WFYI’s insurance requirements to drive WFYI vehicles.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.

• Ability to lift, kneel, carry and position items up to 25 pounds at times.
