We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented State Inspection Mechanic to join our automotive service team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to assess mechanical systems, electrical components, tires, brakes, lights, and emissions systems in accordance with state regulations.
- Perform automotive repairs and maintenance tasks such as tire changes, brake replacements, electrical system troubleshooting, and general mechanical repairs.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment efficiently to diagnose issues and execute repairs accurately.
- Inspect and evaluate automotive parts and accessories for wear, damage, or defects; recommend necessary replacements or repairs.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately; prepare auto estimating reports for repairs needed.
- Assist customers by explaining inspection findings and recommended services with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong understanding of standard passenger car operation and automotive systems.
- Mechanical knowledge including vehicle maintenance, auto body repair, auto restoration, and automotive electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with automotive tire change procedures and vehicle inspections.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, auto estimating software, and automotive parts knowledge.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely during repairs or inspections.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Knowledge of auto estimating processes and familiarity with automotive service procedures is preferred.
- Valid mechanic certification or relevant technical training is highly desirable.
