Overview
The Banquet Manager acts as the onsite leader for catered events for members and non-members, coordinating service staff, managing set-up and breakdown, and ensuring compliance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to achieve high customer satisfaction. Key duties include managing member events, supervising staff, handling client requests, directing food service, and ensuring venue safety/cleanliness. Schedule flexibility is required including nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Training: Leads, trains, and schedules banquet servers, bartenders, and housepersons to ensure efficient service and proper grooming.
- Event Execution: Oversees the setup, execution, and cleanup of events, including room layout, table settings, and food/beverage service.
- Client Liaison: Acts as the main contact for the host, greeting them upon arrival, reviewing BEOs, and promptly resolving complaints or special requests.
- Quality Control: Ensures food quality, proper sanitation, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Administrative Duties: Manages inventory, prepares final checks for payment, and completes post-event reports.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in banquet or catering service, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and multitasking abilities.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Training: Often requires TIPS or food safety certification.
- Availability: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
