Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret basic results to aid in diagnosis
- Maintain accurate medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and vaccination logs
- Administer treatments such as medication administration, wound care, and animal catheterization under supervision
- Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, and pet grooming to promote comfort and hygiene
- Take diagnostic radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper positioning and aseptic technique for clear imaging results
Requirements
- Valid license as a Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification in veterinary technology
- Proven kennel experience with animals of various species, including dogs and cats
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology and procedures for dental cleanings and exams
- Experience with animal husbandry practices across different species including equine experience preferred
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures such as emergency response and intensive patient monitoring
- Laboratory experience involving sample collection, analysis, and interpretation of results
- Ability to handle dogs confidently through training techniques or dog handling skills
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary technician protocols
- Skilled in animal restraint techniques for safe examinations or treatments
- Experience with pet care routines such as grooming and pet grooming techniques
- Proficiency in X-ray operation with attention to aseptic technique during imaging procedures
