What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Administrator position at Westwood First Presbyterian Church?
The Church Administrator manages the key financial systems for the church, working with the Pastor and Building Manager. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, has a strong accounting background and can work independently, with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include:
· Perform timely payment of bills, accurate payroll, manage cash, make required month end general ledger entries and produce monthly and church related financial reports.
· Maintain an effective cash flow and is familiar with funds management.
· Meet periodically with church Financial Advisor and bank managers to optimize return on investments.
· Maintain vendor relationships and address any billing issues.
· Interact with congregation members regarding questions regarding giving strategies, progress on their pledges and opportunities to provide financial support for church congregational and outreach activities.
· Collaborate with Pastor and Session to conduct the annual pledge campaign
· Maintain personnel and contractor files, collecting all necessary documentation including I-9s, W-4s, W-9s and distribute annual payroll summaries to employees.
· Maintain and improve financial processes, and documentation for personnel, contractors and major donors.
· The duties and responsibilities of this position may change over time. Employees are expected to perform job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Associates degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
· 3 years of experience in managing accounts payable, payroll and financial reporting.
· Systems experience with Bill.com, PayChex, and Quickbooks. Church Planning Center experience a bonus. Able to use Microsoft Office tools and Adobe.
· Strong skills in communication, and problem-solving,
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· High level of confidentiality required
