What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at Westwood Christian Co-Op Preschool?
Westwood Christian Co-op Preschool is seeking a passionate, nurturing teacher to job share in our Young 5s class for the 2026–2027 school year. This position will also serve as the Lead Teacher for the Tuesday/Thursday sessions, with the opportunity to transition into the solo Young 5s teacher for the 2027–2028 school year.
We are a Christ-centered preschool committed to partnering with families and providing a warm, developmentally appropriate learning environment rooted in Christian values.
Responsibilities:
- Job share as teacher for the Young 5s class (2026–2027)
- Serve as Lead Teacher for the Tuesday/Thursday sessions
- Collaborate with staff and co-op families
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with job share teacher, communicating often to provide continuity for the class
- Foster a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff
Qualifications:
- Meet Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
- Experience teaching preschool or Young 5s preferred
- Ability to integrate Biblical principles into daily instruction
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a co-op preschool setting
