Westview Jr. High School Cheer Coach

Qualifications:

• Employment as a teacher preferred, but only required for certain positions.
• Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Principal or Athletic Director

Job Goal: To help student athletes focus on and value academics first with athletics second. Each participating student can achieve a high level of skill, and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling inter-scholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate after inventory and inspection is complete.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in inter-scholastic competition in his sport.
• Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and established and oversees penalties for breach of standards by individual students.

Terms of Employment: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
