TITLE: Associate Principal of Instruction
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Exempt

SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 230 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by the Principal.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this classification is to provide leadership and guidance in the development and improvement of the school's instructional program, and to assist the principal in achieving academic success, and establishing and perpetuating the school's mission, vision, and principles within the classroom and the community. Responsible for providing oversight for teacher and staff evaluations and professional development, student and parental intervention and counseling, and facilitate student testing.
EDUCATION: Completion of Master's degree in Supervision or School Administration
EXPERIENCE: 3 years.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:
- REQUIRED: A Valid South Carolina certificate with secondary principal endorsement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.
- Supervise the instructional process in the classroom to include observation, coaching, and evaluation of the improvement of individual staff competencies. Provide feedback to teachers regarding best practices in instruction.
- Plan and implement professional staff development based on feedback from teachers and data collected regarding school needs.
- Direct the testing program in the school. Work with department heads to analyze standardized test scores, grade distributions, and develop instructional improvement plans per content area. Disseminate data regarding tests to the District.
- Create the Master Schedule in coordination with the principal and other schools district-wide.
- Provide leadership in developing innovative instructional programs and curriculum improvement, assuring student needs are met, and programs comply with district, regional, state and federal laws and guidelines.
- Direct, in conjunction with the principal, programs including: Special Education, Honors, Academic Assistance, and SCTS 4.0 teams.
- Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring, orientation, training, and assigning of instructional personnel.
- Develop the annual course catalog, and recommend the addition of new courses, grade placement of courses, credit allowance for courses and experimental programs.
- Assist in the development and coordination of the budget as it relates to curriculum and instruction.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Oversee all induction and SCTS 4.0 teams for the school.
- Work with the paraprofessionals and administrative staff to plan and implement school registration and back to school activities.
- Plan and coordinate parent nights.
- Attend District meetings for instructional leaders and disseminate information to schools.
- Maintain the faculty handbook.
- Assist the principal with new teacher orientation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and ability to work effectively with spreadsheets
- Strong organizational skills; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to communicate professionally with staff, administrators, teachers, parents, and students
- Knowledge of the District and school's mission, vision, and beliefs
- Knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Office, Google Education, and other instructional technology platforms and resources
- Knowledge of personnel policies regarding the hiring and evaluation processes for teachers and staff
- Knowledge of testing regulations and procedures at the local, state, and national levels
- Knowledge of public school law as it relates to staff and students
- Strong instructional leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Good supervisory and managerial skills
- Ability to serve as ADEPT evaluator
