Position: Worship Pastor
Hours: 40 hours/week
Classification: Full-Time Exempt
Job Summary:
The Worship Pastor is responsible for leading and cultivating the worship culture of Westside
Church by providing spiritual, musical, and organizational leadership for all worship
environments. This pastoral role requires a shepherd’s heart for teams, strong musical leadership,
and the ability to lead the congregation into meaningful encounters with Jesus.
The Worship Pastor oversees weekend services, secondary gatherings, worship team
development, and collaborates cross-functionally with Creative Arts, Production, and Teaching
teams to ensure alignment with the overall vision and mission of Westside Church.
The Worship Pastor works in close collaboration with the Worship & Spiritual Formation Pastor
to ensure theological alignment and integration with Westside’s broader spiritual formation
vision.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
• Minimum 3 years of worship leadership experience in a large church setting (300
attendees).
• Demonstrated experience leading multiple worship teams and volunteers.
• Proven administrative experience managing scheduling systems (e.g., Planning Center).
• Experience building, recruiting, and developing volunteer teams of 20 individuals.
• Ability to lead vocally and instrumentally (guitar or keys preferred).
• Experience collaborating with teaching and production teams in service planning.
• Foursquare Pastoral License or willingness to obtain within 24 months of hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage and execute weekly service planning timelines.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience overseeing staff or contractors.
• Songwriting or music production experience.
• Experience developing worship leaders and mentoring emerging talent.
• Familiarity with multitrack, click, and modern worship production environments.
• Theological training or ministry degree.
Responsibilities and Associated Tasks:
Sunday Worship Leadership & Service Planning – 35%
• Lead or delegate worship leadership for all weekend services.
• Collaborate with Senior Pastors, Spiritual Formation Pastor, and Creative Arts Team in
weekly service planning.
• Oversee service flow, song selection, and thematic alignment.
• Provide spiritual leadership during gatherings.
• Ensure excellence in rehearsals and Sunday execution.
Secondary Gatherings & Ministry Support – 15%
• Oversee worship for Staff Connects, prayer gatherings, and other special events.
• Develop worship leaders to lead in secondary environments & services.
• Support weddings, funerals, and special church events as requested.
Worship Team Development & Pastoral Care – 25%
• Recruit, audition, and onboard new worship team members.
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership for worship volunteers.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with key team members.
• Lead team nights, trainings, and spiritual development gatherings.
• Develop leadership pathways for emerging worship leaders.
Scheduling, Administration & Systems – 10%
• Oversee all worship team scheduling and communication.
• Manage Planning Center and related worship systems.
• Maintain song database and manage music rotation strategy.
• Organize charts, sounds & tracks, and worship resources.
• Oversee worship-related budget lines in coordination with supervisor.
Stage & Gear Oversight – 10%
• Maintain and manage stage equipment, instruments, and gear across the Worship Center,
Student Center, and Chapel.
• Coordinate stage resets before and after services.
• Work with Production Lead to ensure technical readiness for rehearsals and services.
• Organize and maintain worship storage areas, instruments, and technical resources.
Creative Collaboration & Staff Engagement – 5%
• Participate in Creative Arts Team meetings.
• Collaborate with Stage Director, Production, and Creative Team to create seamless
worship experiences.
• Participate in speaking team meetings as requested.
Staff Participation & Spiritual Formation – 5%
• Participate in Staff Connect, Staff Chapel, First Wednesday prayer, and all required staff
meetings.
• Attend staff retreats and all-hands meetings.
• Invest in personal spiritual health and continued growth.
Supervisory:
Immediate Supervisor: Lindsay Parnell
Supervisory Responsibilities For: Worship Staff (if applicable), Contractors, and Worship
