Role Summary/ Purpose: The Assistant Manager is a leadership position in the store, and is responsible to assist the manager and lead the store staff to deliver financial results and all aspects of store operations including customer service and customer experience, merchandising, store promotions, staff training and staff management, problem solving, and inventory control.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Responsible to support achievement of the store’s financial goals
- Assists manager with monitoring and adjusting schedules to ensure labor is utilized to optimize sales
- Prepares and oversees physical inventories, ensuring proper forecast/planning of merchandise
- Meet or exceeds established store sales and performance goals daily
- Responsible for visual presentation; displays floor sets and merchandise presentations
- Responsible for store marketing function including advertising and promotions
- May prepare weekly schedules in accordance with company guidelines; Ensures compliance to all Federal and State employment requirements
- Ensures banking and cash management guidelines are followed
- Creates and distributes reporting as needed
- Supports recruiting, hiring, and developing store associates; assists preparing and conducting performance reviews and evaluations
- Coaches associates, ensuring that all associates are fully trained on product knowledge and sales skills
- Leads efforts to reduce in-store shrink activity though loss prevention education, awareness and compliance
- Hands-on leader willing to assist with unloading stock and merchandising the floor
- Acts as Manager when Store Manager is not present
