Position Summary
The Basketball Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and implementation of Basketball programs within the Sports Ministry of Westover Hills Church. This position supports the mission of Westover Hills by providing high-quality athletic programming that promotes Christian values, fosters community engagement, and serves as a vehicle for outreach and discipleship. The Basketball Coordinator ensures operational excellence, effective volunteer management, and the integration of ministry objectives into all program activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee all soccer-related programming, including seasonal leagues, tournaments, clinics, and special events.
- Develop and maintain game schedules, practice schedules, and field assignments.
- Manage program operations including registration, rosters, facilities, and equipment.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer coaches, referees, and program staff; provide ongoing leadership and support.
- Ensure that all programs are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and Christ-centered environment.
- Integrate spiritual development into programming through devotionals, prayer, and intentional relationship building.
- Maintain accurate program records, including registration data, volunteer information, and budget documentation.
- Oversee program finances, including fee collection, budget tracking, and resource allocation.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, volunteers, and church staff regarding program expectations, schedules, and updates.
- Collaborate with other Sports Ministry staff and Westover Hills ministries to align programming with the overall mission of the church.
- Promote volleyball ministry opportunities through church channels, community outreach, and strategic partnerships.
Skills Needed to Succeed

- Demonstrated knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and coaching practices.
- Prior experience in sports program management, coaching, officiating, or related leadership roles preferred.

- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills for recruiting, training, and motivating volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in accordance with program requirements.
- Demonstrated spiritual maturity and commitment to modeling Christ-like character.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- This position requires both office, indoor, and outdoor field work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and set up equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activity for extended periods.
