Head Custodian - High School

Position Overview The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Head Custodian for Weston High School. This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 PM with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break), reporting to the Building Principal and the Director of Facilities. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary, desegregation program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 166 students (K-12). Key Responsibilities

• Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion
• Supervision and training of custodians
• Operation of all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers and temperature control systems
• Preparing of daily reports and other logs
• Checking the building for maintenance and security
• Dealing with emergency situations
• Energy conservation
• Perform weekend building checks from November 1 to April 1 as required by contract.
• Maintain grounds adjacent to the school building, including the playground
• Make minor repairs
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, administrators, students, and families
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Maturity, flexibility, and comfort working as part of a team
• Strong work ethic, with a track record of meeting deadlines
• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Able to perform moderately heavy work
• Proficient use of computerized maintenance system including daily updating of work orders to keep records accurate
  
  

Compensation The compensation for the High School Head Custodian will be $27.04 - $29.59 per hour. Please note, Custodians are currently in the middle of contract negotiations, and we anticipate an increase to the compensation as soon as the new contract is finalized.
