The Weston Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered school leader to serve as the Assistant Principal for Weston High School. This is an 11-month role, reporting to the High School Principal, and serving as a member of the District-wide leadership team. About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 150 students (K-12).

- Assist the Principal in the general administration of the school, and serve as the school leader in the Principal’s absence
- Support the school mission, vision, and goals
- Coordinate efforts to promote a positive school culture and strengthen student engagement
- Assist in the scheduling of all classes and students at Weston High School.
- Lead and support instructional improvement and classroom practice
- Use data to inform decisions to improve student outcomes
- Provide leadership on issues related to student behavior and attendance
- Support, coach, and evaluate teachers, and support personnel to foster continuous growth
- Plan and implement professional development for staff
- Support the recruitment, hiring, and retention efforts of Weston Public Schools
- Represent the high school on district committees
- Model strong leadership qualities and exhibit actions that reflect the values of the Weston Public Schools
- Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal
- Deep knowledge of the state curriculum frameworks and the development of a standards-based classroom environment
- Strong familiarity with social emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching
- Experience with supporting diverse learners, including multi-lingual learners and students on IEP’s and 504s
- Excellent communication skills - clear writer, facilitator, and excellent public speaker
- Unshakeable ethics and integrity
- Humility, resilience, and an eagerness to learn and improve
- Five or more years of exceptional student growth/achievement results as an educator
- Experience in a school leadership role, preferably in a diverse public school setting
- Hold a valid Massachusetts administrator license as a Principal - grades 5-12, by the time of appointment
The High School Assistant Principal is a 11-month salaried position (239 days, 212 worked), and the salary range is $135,000-$155,000 per year. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
