Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometry Technician / Front Desk professional to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage patient intake processes with professionalism and accuracy.
- Obtain vital signs, medical history, and relevant documentation to support clinical assessments.
- Assist optometrists with patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring proper aseptic techniques are followed.
- Maintain patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, lens measurements, and basic optical adjustments.
- Manage front desk operations including appointment scheduling, phone inquiries, and billing procedures using medical coding and billing systems.
- Handle retail sales of eyewear products while applying retail math principles to ensure accurate transactions and inventory management.
- Uphold high standards of patient care by demonstrating knowledge of physiology, anatomy, ophthalmology concepts, and medical terminology relevant to eye health.
- Ensure clinic cleanliness and adherence to infection control protocols through proper aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to improve clinic workflows and enhance patient experiences in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical office administration or healthcare settings is preferred; experience in ophthalmology or optometry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Oficemate or similar platforms for managing electronic health records efficiently.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Experience with optical services including frame fitting, lens measurements, and basic repairs is desirable.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support clinical workflows effectively.
- Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills for inventory control and transaction accuracy is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse patient populations including pediatrics; compassionate patient care is essential.
