Our mission is Forging Independence Through Reliable Housing and Caregiving for Adults with Spinal Cord Injuries by providing accessible housing, dependable care, and a pathway to greater independence and quality of life.
Position Summary
Board Members provide strategic leadership, governance, advocacy, and fundraising support to help advance the mission of Westmoreland Wheelhouse. Board Members serve as ambassadors for the organization, helping build community awareness, strengthen partnerships, and ensure its lasting sustainability.
Responsibilities
Governance & Leadership
- Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings and committee meetings.
- Support the development and execution of the organization's strategic targets.
- Provide oversight of policies, financial status, and organizational performance.
- Maintain compliance with legal, ethical, and nonprofit governance standards.
Fundraising & Community Engagement
- Support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship development, and donor cultivation.
- Assist in identifying and connecting potential donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Serve as an ambassador for Westmoreland Wheelhouse within the community.
- Attend and promote fundraising events and outreach campaigns.
Mission Advocacy
- Promote the mission and vision of Westmoreland Wheelhouse.
- Help expand awareness of the difficulties and possibilities facing individuals with spinal cord injuries.
- Advocate for accessible housing, reliable caregiving, and independent living solutions.
Organizational Support
- Contribute professional expertise and guidance in areas such as:
- Business Development
- Fundraising
- Healthcare
- Construction & Real Estate Development
- Nonprofit Leadership
- Community Relations
Qualifications
- Passion for the mission of supporting adults living with spinal cord injuries.
- Commitment to serving the community and advancing nonprofit initiatives.
- Professional experience, leadership skills, or specialized expertise are beneficial to the organization.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Willingness to support fundraising and community outreach efforts.
Time Commitment
- Attend monthly board meetings.
- Participate in committee meetings as needed.
- Support at least two fundraising or community events annually.
- Serve a two-year renewable term.
Board Member Expectations
- Assist with fundraising, sponsorships, and donor introductions.
- Actively promote Westmoreland Wheelhouse through personal and professional networks.
- Uphold the organization's mission, values, and fiduciary responsibilities.
