Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps (PMSC) AmeriCorps Position: Change your community, change your life! The Westmoreland Conservation District is seeking applicants for an environmental stewardship position that focuses on watershed protection, erosion control, and stormwater management throughout Westmoreland County. This member will support projects that improve water quality, enhance outdoor recreational opportunities, and support grassroots non-profit organizations that promote environmental stewardship. Member Responsibilities
The AmeriCorps Service Member at the Westmoreland Conservation District will have a wide range of duties. This position will mainly work to support the Watershed Department at the District. This includes assisting with stream monitoring projects, creating educational content, riparian buffer plantings, macroinvertebrate collection, providing technical assistance, and more. This position also has the opportunity to work with various other departments at the District as well including: Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Agriculture, and the West Nile Virus Surveillance Program. The AmeriCorps Member will typically work our regular hours during their service term which is Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4 pm with occasional evenings or weekends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources or related field
Other Program Information
Approximately 35 hours/week (1,200 hour position). Compensation includes a bi-weekly stipend ($955) and an education award ($5,176.50 upon completion of 1200 hours). Healthcare and childcare benefits available. Additional information about this position can be found at https://www.pmsc.org/.
