Our Head Start program is looking for a teacher assistant to join our team at our New Kensington/Lower Burrell center. Using your knowledge of child development, you will assist the teacher in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment. You will provide this support by:
Head Start is a free program that serves children, ages 3-5, and their families in both learning centers and the home. Head Start provides pre-Kindergarten learning experiences for young children to help prepare them for a smooth transition into Kindergarten. The overall goal is to promote school readiness.
Requirements
Our Head Start program is looking for a teacher assistant to join our team at our New Kensington/Lower Burrell center. Using your knowledge of child development, you will assist the teacher in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment. You will provide this support by:
- Supervising children in all program related activities,
- Assisting the children with self-help skills and/or toileting,
- Organizing and sustaining the positive functioning of children in a group, and
- Building the positive self-concept and individual strengths in each child.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Previous experience with children and families preferred.
- Familiarity with the Head Start program preferred.
- Must be able to provide or successfully obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background, and sex offender registry clearances.
- Initial health examination and TB test required.
