Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree or two years of college (48 credits)
- Must pass various pre-placement background screenings
- Knowledge of library services & Dewey Decimal System
- Ability to use procedure manuals for self-instruction of District hardware, software, audiovisual operation and maintenance
- Experience in library environment with an understanding of library terminology and practices
- Familiarity with a library automated system (Destiny)
- Organizational skills, including keyboarding (word processing skills, 40-50 words per minute)
- Strong computer/technology skills (spreadsheets, word processing, media file extensions)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to cope with continual interruptions and shifting priorities
- Willingness and flexibility to work various schedules
- Detail oriented
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
- Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
- Maintains, processes and circulates materials
- Duties will include putting barcodes on books, stamping and shelving books and working with the Destiny automated system
- Assists in directing and supervising students
- Locates and demonstrates knowledge of books and authors
- Operates, maintains, guides and instructs on various computer systems, including a library automated system, hardware and software
- Maintains and circulates equipment and troubleshoots, as needed
- Provides guidance to patrons (students, staff, parents and community members) in the use of library systems
- Performs clerical functions
- Works under pressure to accomplish varying types of work despite frequent interruptions
- Maintains effective communication with patrons (students, staff, administration, parents, community members) and vendors
- Assist the Teacher Librarian with other duties as assigned.
