Job Title: Activities Assistant

Reports To: Director of Activities

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify and create activities for residents through creative thinking and resident suggestions.
  • Oversee activities with the support and direction of the Director of Activities.
  • Transport residents to and from activities out in the community.
  • Setup room for activities.
  • Remind residents prior to each activity and assist them in getting to the activity.
  • Effectively communicate with all residents, including those who are sight-impaired and hearing-impaired.
  • Coordinate individual activities such as manicures, etc.
  • Greet visitors in a respectful and friendly manner.
  • Adhere to HIPPA guidelines.
  • Be aware of safety and fire evacuation procedures.
  • Assist with office duties, such as planning activities, answering phones, reaching out to volunteers.
  • Follow Department of Health guidelines when handling food.
  • Adhere to proper hygiene standards.
  • Attend staff and in-service meetings as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Internet
  • Experience with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year experience

Specialized Training:

  • Comfort level working with senior population
  • Experience in activities preferred
  • Facility training programs
  • Must have valid driving license
