The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing campus buildings, equipment and grounds. This position is expected to work independently while completing general maintenance work order requests. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Building Maintenance
- Maintain buildings, perform minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other related maintenance activities.
- Build, repair, and/or installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, trim shelving, and sheet rock.
- Interior maintenance such as: HVAC, windows, doors, partitions, wall displays/coverings, floors, ceilings and furniture placement.
- Check for proper operation and repairs as needed on all air driers, chillers and boilers.
- Walk through all buildings on campus 3-4 times daily to detect any unusual change in temperature or lighting.
- Maintains grounds, repair irrigation systems, empty outdoor trash and recycling, trim bushes, rake leaves, plant shrubs and turf.
- Remove snow from walks, steps, driveways, and parking lots
- Basic swimming pool maintenance (daily chemical testing/balancing of water, brushing/cleaning of pool).
- May be required to receive training and take a test to become a Certified Pool Operator
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather.
- Regularly exposed to cold, heat, dust, pollen, odors, oils, fumes, and noise.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current, valid driver's license
- Ability to operate a wide variety of equipment and tools used for building maintenance.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to employees of the college.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to climb, balance stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Two years of experience with swimming pool maintenance strongly desired.
