Summary
We are seeking a Building Maintenance professional to join our team at Westminster Child Care Center in Charlottesville. This role is vital in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our children and staff. The ideal candidate will contribute to our mission by ensuring that our facilities are well-maintained and conducive to learning. Candidates will be fingerprinted and must be able to pass a criminal background check. Smoking/Vaping is not permitted on property.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and functionality of the facility.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs.
- Oversee landscaping and lawn care activities to maintain an inviting outdoor space.
- Manage the playground for the spreading of mulch, and keeping sand in our sandboxes.
- Maintaining a safe environment during times of inclement weather. Ensuring that salt is placed on walkways and entrances.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely for various maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with staff to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations
- Assist with daily classroom maintenance and emptying of trash cans indoors and outdoors.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies needed for building upkeep.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in building maintenance or a related field.
- You must have a strong work ethic and consider attendance to work a priority.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping and playground maintenance/upkeep.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with staff members.
- A proactive approach to creating relationships with children and the families that we serve.
