What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Nursing Supervisor - Nights position at Westminster Canterbury Richmond?
As the RN Nursing Supervisor you would oversee direct resident care in Parsons Health Center, respond to medical emergencies throughout the WCR campus and provide additional coverage and support as needed to ensure quality resident care. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the nursing staff in performing and provide nursing care in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations.
Shift Details:
Full-Time, (Night Shift) 7:00 pm to 7:00 am (3 or 4 days a week, including every other weekend)
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Interview, hire, supervise, coach, evaluate, discipline and assist employees in setting and meeting performance goals. Develop and monitor performance and responsibilities of assigned staff while monitoring staffing patterns.
- Identify resident and staffing needs based on report from previous shift; actively deliver care in areas of need
- Assist in coordination of admissions, discharges, and transfer of residents in the Parsons Health Center
- Perform blood draws, IV infusions, PIC line flushes and other skilled tasks as identified
- Educate and provide clinical direction for all nursing staff
- Use and adapt to new technologies, including tools, equipment, methods of application, computerized systems and processes, etc., to impact productivity of department and services; keep job-required technical skills up to date
- Assist in coordination of staffing resources to ensure adequate coverage
- Conduct periodic inspection of units and enforce safety. Perform monthly chart audits
- Responsible for informing Director of Nursing and Nurse Managers of nursing activities, needs, issues and unusual events
- Assist the Director of Nursing in investigation and reporting of complaints
- Make routine nursing service checks on personnel, time keeping system, equipment, materials, supplies, etc.
- Respond to independent living and assisted living emergencies on nights and weekends
- Responsible for documentation of employee incident reports in accordance with company policies
- Additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to make decisions and choices without direct supervision
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Strong clinical assessment skills and clinical competencies
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Ability and knowledge to care for geriatric and/or cognitively impaired residents
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia
- Three years nursing experience
- One year RN management experience
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
- One year experience with geriatric population
- AED and CPR certified
