Do you love being behind the wheel and bringing smiles to people’s faces? As a CDL Driver on our Transportation Services team, you’ll be more than just the person who gets everyone from Point A to Point B — you’ll be a friendly face, a helping hand, and an important part of our campus.
Each day, you’ll safely transport residents and team members to appointments, outings, and special events while making the ride just as enjoyable as the destination. What You’ll Do In This Role
- Transport residents and employees to various locations safely and efficiently.
- Conduct all duties with focus on excellent customer service.
- Wear uniform provided, projecting a professional appearance.
- Comply with local traffic regulations.
- Report all traffic violations and/or accidents to your direct Supervisor.
- Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles, checking gas, oil, tires and other items on a routine basis.
- Regulate temperature in vehicles for passenger comfort.
- Drive to assigned designations only; does not use company vehicles for personal use or errands.
- Assist individuals on/off the vehicle.
- Aid residents and/or stays with residents on trips as deemed necessary.
- Complete pre-start checklist daily.
- Provide transportation for residents on routine runs as well as special outings.
- Maintain monthly resident charges for routine runs as well as special outings and provide documentation to Dispatch within the designated time frame.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, which would include days, evenings, and weekends be available by phone in case of possible scheduling changes.
- Alert supervisor if any traffic violations occur in a work vehicle.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Examples: pick up parts and supplies for various departments.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and physically assist residents on and off vehicles.
- Demonstrate the ability to correctly secure a wheelchair using the lock-in devices on the Apollo bus.
The Experience You’ll Bring
Required
- Must hold a valid, current State of Virginia Commercial driver's license (CDL) class “A” or “B” with a “P” endorsement.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aide certification.
- Driving record from DMV must be provided and free of infractions.
- Complete the DOT Medical Physical to ensure CDL/ VDOT requirements are fulfilled.
- Complete annual CPR/First Aid training.
- Complete annual Lock-Down training.
- Flu-Vaccinated
Preferred
- Prior experience transporting residents at a retirement community.
- COVID-19 Vaccinated. As of now, the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine formulation is being distributed to providers and pharmacies; however, it has not yet received official approval from the CDC. In Virginia, pharmacists may administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s statewide protocols or with a direct order from a licensed medical provider. We encourage all new hires to consult with their healthcare provider regarding the most current vaccination recommendations. Please be aware that, depending on future CDC guidance or regulatory updates, we may require proof of the most recent COVID-19 vaccination as part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety.

Compensation Range: $20.11- $23.62 (based on relevant experience)
