About Westminster at Lake Ridge

Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 270 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Job Requirements:

High School diploma or Associates Degree in a Human Service field required, six (6) months to one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, fax, etc.

Job Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Life Enrichment Manager with planning and executing recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for the residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Life Enrichment Responsibilities

Assists with planning and/or leading individual and group activities in the Health Center/Assisted Living Unit.

  • Develops, plans, and promotes activities for Nursing Center residents.
  • Assists with transportation of residents from Health Center/Assisted Living Unit to activity, as needed.
  • Interacts with residents during planned activity to create rapport.
  • Assists the Life Enrichment Manager with set up and/or clean up of area for scheduled activities.
  • Leads activity for residents as requested by the Life Enrichment Manager.
  • Assists with fundraising/resident Bazaar as requested by residents and Life Enrichment Manager

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintains current record of all activities including resident participation, events, and feedback

  • Keeps attendance records and one-on-one room visits of all activities.
  • Creates activity ideas and obtains approval from Life Enrichment Manager.

Activity Assessments, MDS and Care Plans

Maintains current record of all activities including resident participation, events, and feedback

  • Complete Life Enrichment assessment on new residents.
  • Creating monthly calendar of activities
  • Complete Minimum Data Set for resident upon admission, change of status and annually.
  • Completes 5, 30, 60 and 90 day assessment of skilled resident and writes progress note.
  • Completes Care Plans for residents as needed.
  • Attends Care Plan Meetings when scheduled.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with management and coworkers; willingly follows directions and requests as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeks clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures, federal, state, local and regulatory agency requirements as related to department and position; seeks clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed.
  • Confers with management in order to discuss and resolve resident and/or family complaints.
  • Accepts constructive criticism as evidenced by appropriate changes in behavior.
  • Consistently reports to work on time and ready to work at the start of the shift
  • Always provides proper notification when late or absent. Notifies supervisor of programmatic responsibilities that need coverage.
  • Demonstrates willingness to take on additional responsibilities when they can be assumed without adversely affecting the quality or quantity of work.
  • Displays effective communication skills, both written and oral, to keep Life Enrichment Manager, staff members, and peers informed about progress, problems, and related development.
  • Anticipates needs of the department and is self-directed with regards to fulfilling those needs.
  • Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in all relations with others.

  • Participates in in-service, projects, or committees as assigned.

  • Provides assistance to resident, visitor, or employee in an emergency situation; following the proper emergency procedures.
