Position has contact with all levels of management as well as independent auditors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: Manage all financial reporting functions, including benefits accounting and financial reporting. Prepare SEC filings and other regulatory reporting, including filing of 10Q’s, 10K, 8K and other filings as necessary. Prepare and review supporting documents for SEC filings (including XBRL, cash flows, guarantor financials among others) and other regulatory reporting. Responsible for keeping current with technical accounting pronouncements and SEC reporting trends, analyzing the impact on the Company. Conduct technical SEC and U.S. GAAP research and write accounting position papers to document the impact of technical accounting issues Ability to prepare various analysis, supporting documentation, reports and perform tasks considering this is a hands-on position Project lead the implementation of new accounting standards, including technical accounting research, process design, as well as communication and coordination with other functions. Work closely with external auditors and provide data and analyses as needed. Prepare monthly internal management reporting package and other analyses as needed. Manage the accounting related to stock based compensation, employee pension plans, derivative financial instruments, including commodity hedge contracts, net investment hedge, interest rate swap instruments and foreign currency hedge contracts. Ensure appropriate and adequate controls in the accounting and reporting areas. Enforce control compliance by staff. Monitor and identify major performance areas for enhancement via automation, computerization and/or paper flow. Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description. Comply with all Company policies and procedures. Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams. Train and develop staff in their areas, as needed. Provide performance feedback and coaching. Any additional responsibilities or tasks assigned. Should be able to quickly learn the tools and software currently being used by the Company. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s in Accounting with at least ten years of progressive accounting experience in both public accounting and the private sector is required, preferably with a chemical or refinery company. CPA certification is required. Experience with SEC reporting and general accounting is required. MBA preferred. Must be proficient with spreadsheet programs, including Excel. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, SAP and BPC/EPM, is critical to the position. Previous supervisory experience is also required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. 10% travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
