The individual in this role is responsible for maintaining in-stock levels, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that all procurement activities align with the company’s financial and operational goals.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures in-stock rates through placing and managing purchase orders and requisitions with long lead times.
- Monitors and forecasts inventory levels and safety stock to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Calls out risks to supply and takes action to minimize lost sales.
- Provides decision support for fully landed cost and lead time tradeoffs.
- Evaluates supplier performance based on quality, delivery speed, and cost-efficiency.
- Participates in Demand Reviews and prioritizes orders according to current trends.
- Owns the Item Master and Supplier Master.
- Conducts market research to keep pace with costing trends.
- Participates in the requirements definition and selection process for Supply and Demand Planning software.
- Recommends item classification (A/B/C Methodology) to ensure appropriate level of focus depending on the nature of the item.
- Maintains accurate records of purchases, pricing, changes to order flow, and other important details for decision support.
- Ensures all procurement activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Proficiency with ERP/Procurement software; familiarity with NetSuite is a ‘plus’.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.
- At least five years of related experience in procurement or supply chain management required.
- At least two years of people management experience required.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar credential preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new procurement staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow and purchasing cycles of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
