CNC Precision Machining Specialist

A day in the life on 2nd shift Step onto the shop floor in Newington, NH and join a team that machines with accuracy and pride. Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will work 100% onsite and contribute hands-on expertise shaping metal components to exacting standards. This role is 2nd shift only. We welcome all levels of machinists; post-interview, your level will be matched to your skills and the plant’s needs. Candidates must be local to the Newington, NH area. What you’ll do Operate a variety of metal-removal and metal-forming machines within the manufacturing department.Select and use precision metrology instruments and appropriate hand tools.Interpret drawings, sketches, and written or verbal instructions in a manner consistent with PP-09-01.Perform close-tolerance machining in alignment with engineering drawings and documented instructions.Run any machine tool types for which you are qualified via the department training matrix, requiring minimal ramp-up.Assess the need for, design, and fabricate jigs and tooling to support efficient, repeatable work.Own in-process quality: verify that required tolerances are achieved throughout machining.Maintain a clean, organized work area; follow safety and criticality procedures and practice 5S.Load, or coordinate the loading of, your machining center to keep work flowing.When feasible and based on proximity, qualifications, and training, run multiple machines concurrently.As qualified, you may modify or troubleshoot machining programs; this is helpful but not required.Set up machines and parts/castings to machine to print; note that setup time varies with size and complexity.Handle general duties as assigned by management; take direction from your supervisor or team coordinator and work with minimal guidance. What you bring High school diploma or recognized equivalent.At least 1 year of experience with operational proficiency comparable to a Westinghouse – Newington Machinist B or recognized equivalent.Understanding of CNC G-code fundamentals.Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machine setup techniques to produce quality components.Demonstrated 5S practices and a safety-first mindset.Ability to perform technical, tight-tolerance work from engineering drawings and written instructions.Capability to operate assigned machine tool types with minimal additional training.Experience determining needs and fabricating jigs and tooling.Proficiency communicating in English (speak, read, and write).Programming knowledge preferred.
