What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Product Outdoor Furniture position at Westin Furniture?
Westin Furniture is a multi-brand outdoor furniture company with vertical manufacturing in China and a hybrid sourced product portfolio. Our brand family includes WestinTrends, and Costa Elm We distribute across Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, wholesale, hospitality, and our own DTC channels, with warehouses in California and Georgia. We're growing fast, run lean, and are building the infrastructure to support a meaningfully larger business over the next five years.
The Role
We're hiring a senior product leader to own the outdoor furniture portfolio end-to-end — strategy, development, analytics, and lifecycle — across our family of brands. This is a “unicorn” role that sits at the intersection of quant and creative: you'll build new product from concept through launch, but you'll also be the person who rigorously analyzes what's working and what isn't across thousands of active SKUs, decides what to kill, what to scale, and how product flows between our brands and channels. You will own the outdoor furniture category across both residential and light commercial / hospitality applications.
This role can be in Ontario, California or Atlanta, Georgia.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Portfolio Architecture
- Define and own the multi-brand product strategy — what belongs where, how each brand differentiates at the SKU and collection level, and when product migrates between them.
- Build the long-range category roadmap balancing core, newness, white space, and channel-specific opportunities.
- Develop the residential vs. contract / hospitality strategy, including durability, certification (BIFMA, ANSI/BIFMA X5.4), warranty positioning, and lead-time requirements.
Portfolio Analytics & Lifecycle Management
- Build and own the analytical framework in Power BI for evaluating product performance — sell-through, margin, return rate, review sentiment, channel performance, lifecycle stage.
- Make data-driven decisions on what to kill, harvest, reposition, or scale across the active assortment.
- Identify failing SKUs early and recommend interventions (price action, repositioning, brand migration, discontinuation).
- Partner with Sales and BI to instrument SKU-level performance visibility across 1P, 3P, wholesale, hospitality, and DTC.
Product Development
- Continuously monitor the global market for upcoming trends and ideas, synthesizing into an actionable framework for the design team in Asia
- Own the full development lifecycle: concept, design intent, materials, construction, engineering, specs, testing, costing, sample review, and launch.
- Lead development across manufactured and sourced product portfolio.
- Manage development against cost, margin, quality, and speed-to-market targets.
- Build and refine the product development, implementing tools to improve work flow
Private Label & Customer Collaboration
- Partner directly with key retail accounts on private label and custom product development initiatives.
- Translate customer-specific requirements — design direction, durability spec, price point, POP display needs, MOQ, lead time — into executable product programs.
- Build the development workflow that allows Westin to compete and win private label business at scale.
Casual Market Atlanta & Showroom
- Co-own Casual Market Atlanta and the Atlanta showroom in partnership with Marketing and Sales.
- Drive the product story and assortment strategy for each market and showroom refresh.
- Ensure the physical product presentation reflects brand positioning, current line strategy, and key initiatives for the season.
Sourcing & Factory Partnership
- Partner with our China manufacturing team and global supplier network on capability development, quality, and innovation.
- Travel to Asia 1-3 times per year for factory visits and key trade shows
