Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our practice. In this position, you will play an essential role in managing patient billing, processing insurance claims, and ensuring accuracy in billing records for optometry services. Additionally, you will assist the front desk staff with answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient paperwork, check-in/check-out procedures, and other administrative duties as needed to keep the office running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance information and ensure accuracy of billing records.
- Submit insurance claims to both medical and vision insurance providers.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and to resolve discrepancies.
- Process patient billing inquiries and resolve billing issues promptly.
- Prepare reports on outstanding claims and billing procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient account files and records.
- Assist with collections, if necessary, and help ensure timely payments.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding procedures, and relevant medical billing regulations
- Assist front desk staff with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and confirming patient information.
- Handle patient paperwork, including intake forms and insurance documents.
- Support patient check-in and check-out processes to ensure an efficient flow of appointments.
- Assist with managing office supplies, preparing patient charts, and other general administrative duties.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical billing or coding is preferred.
- Experience in medical billing or coding, ideally in an optometry or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of insurance verification claims processing, and reimbursement procedures.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with patients and insurance providers.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist with front desk operations as needed.
