Position Summary: The Front of House Facilities/Barback is a part-time, event-based role essential for the efficient operation of WHBPAC live events. With a focus on both facility management and front-of-house support, this position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including bar preparation and setup, custodial and maintenance duties, barback tasks, and support for venue operations. The role requires successful completion of tasks such as moving heavy items between floors using the elevator or stairs, problem-solving and communication skills for coordinating with staff, and a keen attention to detail to ensure the front of house and bar are well-prepared and maintained.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Reports to Director of Sales & Volunteer Services or the House Manager when the Director is not available.
Essential Job Functions:
· Event Preparation & Setup: Oversee the setup of the front of house before events, including replacing or removing seats for wheelchair access based on information from the Box Office and ensuring the bar, lounge, lobby, and auditorium are ready for use.
· Barback Duties: Stock, prepare, and restock the bar with necessary items such as beverages, ice, glassware, and other supplies. Assist bartenders during peak times and ensure all barware and tools are clean and sanitized.
· Janitorial Support & Facility Maintenance: Handle janitorial duties as needed, including cleaning up spills and body fluids safely and effectively, as per health and safety standards. Restock and tidy bathrooms as needed. Perform a range of cleaning tasks before, during, and after events. This includes general cleaning, waste disposal, and restroom maintenance. Address facility-related issues such as lightbulbs changes promptly to ensure the smooth operation of the event.
· Support Venue Operations: Provide support to front of house staff, coordinate with the Executive Director & Development team on nights there are sponsor parties and assist facility or bar related requests. Communicate with non-event staff regarding inventory and coordinate mutually agreeable times to receive stock and lock it up immediately.
· Safety and Compliance: Ensure that the front of house adheres to safety regulations and compliance standards, conducting regular checks and responding to emergencies effectively.
· Post-Event Management: Breakdown and clean-up post-event, ensuring the front of house facilities are effectively reset to zero.
· Other duties and assignments as necessary, either assigned by the Director of Sales, the House Manager, the Executive Director, or the Development Director.
Minimum Requirements:
Life experience will weigh in a candidate’s favor;
Some experience with bar operations, inventory controls, or live events required;
Must be proficient in SLA rules and health codes or be willing to learn; Should be proficient in English, with proficiency in Spanish a plus.
Or any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills as determined by WHBPAC management may be substituted for the requirements above.
NOTE: This position requires a Background Check, and employment is contingent upon successful completion of such Background Check.
Position Type and Work Hours: part-time, fluctuating workload depending upon events presented by the WHBPAC, all days of the week as required, hours to vary with workload, will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
- Indoors: Theatre and bar environment, including offices, auditorium, lobby, lounge, bar, and basement.
- Outdoors/Off-Site: Temporary performance and/or event sites. Administrative meetings, trainings, and events at a variety of locations, including out of the Westhampton Beach area.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Move and Transport: Frequently up to 50 lbs., such as beverages, bar supplies, equipment, etc.
- Physical: Remaining in a stationary position, move, reaching, typing, communicate, perceive, and drive.
