JOB TITLE: Recertification and Leasing Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Property Management
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Property Management
Location: Yonkers, NY
SALARY: $65,000.00 -$ 70,000.00
SUMMARY:
The Recertification and Leasing Specialist is responsible for conducting initial, annual, and interim LIHTC and HUD 50059 income certifications. The ideal candidate has experience in income certifications, rent collection, and leasing. This position ensures regulatory compliance for initial, annual, and interim certifications, maintains audit-ready files, and supports leasing and occupancy for mixed-finance and affordable housing developments throughout Westchester County. Ability to work independently, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency is required. Proof of COVID-19 vaccines is required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform initial, annual and interim income certifications under supervision of Property Manager
• Receive and process housing applications, maintain waiting lists, and respond to housing inquiries
• Verify income, assets, student status, household composition, and eligibility
• Ensure compliance with AMI limits, rent limits, utility allowances, and program set-asides
• Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready resident files and up-to-date property management databases
• Coordinate move-ins, unit transfers, and move-outs
• Conduct resident orientations and explain lease terms, program rules, and resident responsibilities
• Perform general administrative duties, including lease preparation, file maintenance, answering phones, resident correspondence, and report preparation.
• Prepare reports related to certifications, leasing activity, and compliance
• Assist management with HCR compliance reviews, HUD MORs, and local PHA audits
• Maintain documentation required by the Federal, State and local agencies
• Liaison with Security, Services, Facilities, and Finance and Asset Management staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in affordable housing property management. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Low Income Tax Credit/HUD certifications a plus. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and able to multi-task and work unsupervised. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong computer skills.
