Job Description: E/LA Curriculum Coordinator, 6-12
Position Summary: The E/LA Curriculum Coordinator is a hybrid leadership role (0.8 Administrative / 0.2 Teaching) responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of the District’s English Language Arts program. Reporting to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Coordinator ensures that instructional practices are evidence-based, data-driven, and aligned with state and national standards to maximize student literacy outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the cycle of curriculum review, revision, and alignment with state standards and the "Science of Reading" frameworks.
- Coordinate the vetting and adoption of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), textbooks, and digital resources that support differentiated instruction.
- Maintain and update digital curriculum maps, scope and sequences, and pacing guides for district-wide use.
- Promote the seamless integration of instructional technology and media literacy within the E/LA framework.
- Analyze district-wide literacy data (formative, summative, and diagnostic) to identify achievement gaps and trends.
- Collaborate with staff to use data to refine MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) and Tier 1 classroom instruction.
- Design and facilitate high-impact professional development sessions focused on modern pedagogical strategies and E/LA content knowledge.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new E/LA faculty to ensure district-wide instructional consistency.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new department personnel.
- Assist building principals in the observation and evaluation of teaching staff to provide content-specific feedback.
- Collaborate on the development of the E/LA budget; research, write, and manage state or federal grants (e.g., Title I or literacy-specific grants).
- Education: Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Reading/Literacy preferred.
- Licensure: Valid DESE licensure; Administrative or Supervisory licensure as required by the district.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience in E/LA.
- Teaching Load: 20% classroom instruction or small-group intervention.
- Administrative Load: 80% district-level coordination and school-site support.
- Collaboration: Requires monthly meetings with the Superintendent & Assistant Superintendent and regular travel between district school buildings.
Salary : $64,192 - $119,544
