Fire & Rescue Teacher (.5 Time) (All Year - 4th, CORE, 5th Periods)

Responsibilities
? Play a pivotal role in shaping the futures of students interested in pursuing a career in fire fighting.
? Lead the implementation of the Fire & Rescue Pathway, ensuring alignment with state and national standards.
? Develop and deliver engaging curriculum, guide students through practical experiences, and prepare them for success in post-secondary education and fire fighting careers.
? Develop and deliver innovative lesson plans that cover a variety of fire fighting topics, including hazmat, fire suppression, fire fighting I, basic first aid / CPR, fire fighting II and public safety careers.
? Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, simulations, laboratory experiments, and guest speakers from the fire fighting field.
? Integrate project-based learning opportunities that allow students to apply their knowledge and develop essential skills.
? Facilitate student participation in industry certifications, job shadowing programs, and internships.
? Provide individualized support, mentoring, and college and career counseling to students pursuing fire fighting careers.
? Collaborate with other teachers, counselors, and fire fighting professionals to create a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Candidate must have appropriate Indiana teaching license or be eligible for a Workplace
Specialist license based on 3 years of experience working in the fire fighting industry. Link to Workplace Specialist Licensing Eligibility
2. Candidate must currently hold, or be willing to obtain the State of Indiana firefighter certifications including hazmat awareness, hazmat operations, FFI, and FFII and in good standing in the State of Indiana.
3. Candidate must have experience teaching a class or facilitating training.
4. Candidate must have proven reliability, good organization skills, and ability to work well with students, parents and staff.
5. Candidate must possess some post secondary education or a degree from a regionally accredited institution.
6. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years verifiable work experience.
7. Meet the requirements needed to be a dual-credit instructor with post-secondary
institutions.
OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Have an extensive knowledge about careers in the public safety industry.
2. Have experience in career education or technical training.
3. Have outstanding communication and organizational skills.
4. Be an advocate for Career & Technical Education and have a desire to help guide students to make viable, realistic career decisions.
