Food Service Substitute

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to our students. You will play a crucial part in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Duties

• Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food service area, including cafeteria and kitchen equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
• Restock supplies as needed throughout the shift to maintain service levels.
• Handle transactions accurately and responsibly.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a food service or customer service role is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• A passion for food and students is highly desirable.

• Serve meals and beverages efficiently while delivering friendly, attentive customer service to guests and clients
• Assist with food preparation tasks, including assembling plates, portioning ingredients, and setting up serving stations
• Support catering and banquet events by setting up tables, serving food, and ensuring timely delivery of meals
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of food service areas in compliance with food safety standards
• Handle food items safely during preparation, serving, and storage to prevent contamination or spoilage
• Collaborate with team members to ensure all dining areas are welcoming and well-stocked throughout service periods
• Follow dietary guidelines and accommodate special requests when applicable to meet diverse guest needs

Qualifications

• Previous experience in fine dining or restaurant environments is highly desirable
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
• Experience in serving, food preparation, or catering is preferred
• Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety regulations
• Banquet or large event experience is a plus
• Background in hospitality or as a dietary aide enhances your suitability for this role
• Barista experience or familiarity with the food industry demonstrates versatility in food service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
