PENDING GRANT FUNDING
POSITION: Academic Tutor - Westfield High School Tutoring Center
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree; teaching certification preferred; experience teaching or tutoring high school students preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal Designee
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of authorized administrators, the tutor shall:
Help to facilitate the day to day operations of the WHS Tutoring Center.
Create and maintain a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to learning.
Provide academic assistance for students to develop skills and concepts in math, ELA, science, social studies, and other content areas.
Provide one-to-one or small group instruction.
Demonstrate strong communication skills and collaborate effectively with students of varying backgrounds and levels of need.
Collaborate with teachers and supervisors to determine strategies to increase student achievement.
Monitor student progress.
Be familiar with Google Platform and applications, especially Google Classroom.
Assist content area teachers in implementing and following student-learning plans.
Any other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must be available during the school day 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Not to exceed 19.5 hours per week
SALARY
Stipend - $36 per hour
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT
September 2026 – June 2027
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield Public School evaluation, observations by WHS Administration, and student feedback.
