Maintenance Mechanic - FT

Description

The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to join their team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the overall cleanliness and appearance, general operation and repair of all association facilities.
• Available to respond to emergencies on a 24 hour call basis.
• Maintains department’s record keeping system on inspection reports, work orders, inventory forms and preventative maintenance (PM).
• Implements maintenance systems, housekeeping procedures, standards and PM schedules.
• Complete material/supply purchase requests sheets, inspects purchase compliance; i.e., quality, quantity, order specification, etc.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks, work orders duties; i.e., fitness equipment, whirlpool/pools, PM, painting, fixing items, lights and moving items.
• Perform all duties and responsibilities using maintenance industry best methods during the process.
• Perform random and regular facility room setups/breakdowns.
• Keep abreast of new maintenance and housekeeping systems, products and standards which will enable the YMCA to improve its physical appearance and cost effectiveness.
• Advise the Director of potential problems, repairs and/or replacements needed.
• Receive deliveries and distributes appropriately as assigned by Supervisor.
• Perform other duties including working on ladders/lifts and other assignments as deemed necessary by the Facilities Director and/or designee.

Schedule:  1PM - 9:30PM weekdays; 12PM - 8:30PM weekends

Pay Range:  $20.00-25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license and have the ability to drive; must have clean driving record for a minimum of 1 year to meet YMCA standards
• Must possess a broad and in-depth hands-on technical knowledge of all facility maintenance operation, equipment and housekeeping
• Minimum of 2 years of recent hands-on work experience with strong technical, working knowledge of general mechanical and strong troubleshooting skills OR have completed a two year HVAC/R program through an accredited Vocational School Program and possess, maintain and renew an EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification
• Must have the ability to perform all phases of maintenance and housekeeping procedures and repairs necessary to maintain the facilities
• Must have the ability to demonstrate a mature professional attitude in the workplace
• Must understand both written/verbal communications, and be able to communicate and interact with staff, members, vendors, contractors, etc.
