PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
1. Support instructional operations by preparing labs for classroom and hands-on instruction, including setting up tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
2. Maintain laboratory spaces across multiple disciplines, including Auto, Diesel, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical and Instrumentation, Plant Operations, Heavy Machinery, Nuclear, and Welding.
3. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on lab equipment and tools to ensure they are safe and functional.
4. Assist with the inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; report low stock and suggest supply orders to the Program Coordinator.
5. Help monitor the safety and cleanliness of the lab areas, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
6. Assist faculty and instructors during setup and breakdown of labs and special instructional activities.
7. Move and arrange equipment and materials to support program needs and instructional changes.
8. Track and label equipment as needed; assist with check-in/check-out systems for shared tools and student usage.
9. Support special events, demonstrations, or training activities hosted in lab areas.
10. Assist in identifying maintenance issues and coordinate with facilities staff for repairs.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the MIT Program Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in technical or industrial settings involving tools, machinery, or equipment maintenance.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work safely in lab environments.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record acceptable to the College’s insurance carrier for authorized driver status.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate’s degree or technical certification in a related field (e.g., automotive, welding, electrical, or plant operations).
2. Experience working in an educational or training environment.
3. Familiarity with inventory systems or basic purchasing processes.
4. Ability to troubleshoot and perform light repairs on lab equipment.
