The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to Western students enrolled in various Information Systems courses taught within Western’s service area. Western offers courses in a variety of instructional modalities and teaching in multiple instructional modalities is common. Sections may be offered as face-to-face, Internet, Hybrid, Hy-Flex, or Block sections. Instructional responsibilities will include courses across the computer technology department. The typical load is 30 credit hours per Fall and Spring of an academic year.
INSTRUCTOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses, including, but not limited to: Computer and Information Systems, Computer Applications, Information Management, and Internet Technology.
2. Provides quality learning experiences for enrolled students, in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course’s standards and objectives. Motivates students through careful preparation of course materials, use of effective teaching methodologies, and provides substantive feedback on assignments and discussions.
3. Follows department objectives and criteria for each course, as well as the Curriculum Committee’s guidelines regarding course syllabi. Evaluates student performance while considering these objectives and criteria.
4. Teaches courses on dates and times as assigned by the School Dean. Provides leadership to adjunct and concurrent faculty on the design and delivery of common course content. Utilizes instructional technologies and learning management systems effectively in course delivery.
5. Advises students clearly and effectively. Communicates requirements for Western graduation and for transfer to other regional colleges and universities. Contributes current advising information to the Western Advising Handbook, including Western curricula at the University of Wyoming and other regional universities. Attends annual advisor training sessions. Maintains required advising hours in advising scheduling system.
6. Recommends course schedules to the School Dean and Department Facilitator. Mentors adjunct instructors as assigned. Revises existing courses to maintain currency with evolving technologies and develops new courses as needed.
7. Maintains an appropriate schedule of office hours which serve on-campus and distance education students. Develops effective working relationships with business, industry ,and community partners to support curricular planning, workforce responsiveness, recruitment, and other program functions.
8. Assists in the College’s student recruitment program by cooperating with the Director of Admissions and Outreach, visiting area schools, encouraging students to attend Western, and promoting the value of the college.
9. Stays current in both their discipline and teaching methodology.
10. Utilizes and refers students to campus resources as needed, including Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), , Peer Tutor Center, Mustang Central, Office of Student Life, and the Library & Learning Commons.
11. Assists in developing a well-rounded, usable library collection in their discipline; teaches the proper use of library and internet resources.
12. Contributes to Western’s efforts for planning and improvement, including assessment of student learning, student engagement, strategic planning, and/or master planning.
13. Participates actively in the College’s Assessment Program, including Program Review.
14. Works with the School Dean to develop an individual professional development plan that will be of mutual benefit to the individual and to Western. Completes all elements of the Faculty Evaluation Plan.
15. Communicates clearly and effectively using the college network system, including college e-mail, word processing, and the advising modules; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate
16. Serves as an ambassador of Western by speaking to stakeholders, answering specific inquiries, assisting with research projects and workshops, locating information, and performing other related tasks.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
INSTRUCTOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an earned Bachelors’ degree in: Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science or other related discipline and current relevant industry certifications/credentials/licenses.
2. Experience in teaching or training in relevant content areas.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of the current information systems technologies, business applications, computer software, digital productivity tools, and instructional technologies.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators, and community partners
5. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.
6. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Equivalency Statement
For those who do not exactly meet all the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience which has demonstrated comparable knowledge and abilities may be acceptable.


Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience)
1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an earned master’s degree in: Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science or other related discipline and current relevant industry certifications/credentials/licenses.
2. Active participation in relevant professional organizations.
3. Teaching experience at the college level, substantiated by excellent student evaluations and/or letters of recommendation.
