What are the responsibilities and job description for the FSQA Kill Supervisor (4606) position at WESTERN VALLEY MEAT COMPANY?
The primary responsibilities of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FS/QA) Supervisor – Harvest include supervising QA technicians’ job performances and training new QA technicians. Other responsibilities include pre-operational/operational sanitation, monitoring the food safety/quality program, HACCP, SSOP and GMP monitoring and verification of CCPs, and food safety training. The FS/QA Supervisor also ensures that the meat products, processes and services meet food safety standards and the desired quality levels at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provide food safety support and expertise for the daily management and implementation of the food safety system

Manage and schedule FS/QA personnel for food safety, legality, and quality tasks

Assist in investigations

Help oversee testing programs/communicate test results to respective production teams

Assist with various projects relating to safety, food safety, process improvement, employee engagement and training

Work closely with production management, supervisors, hourly personnel, and USDA/FSIS inspectors

Provide initial and ongoing training of programs and procedures to FS/QA personnel (i.e., HACCP, SSOP, SOPs, GMPs, and other Pre-Requisite programs)

Oversee Animal Handling and Welfare programs and verify compliance through audits. (PAACO certification)

Review and communicate safe work environments

Perform FS/QA personnel evaluations

Involved with daily recordkeeping requirements and corrective actions/root cause analysis

Ensure compliance with company policies and initiate disciplinary action when deemed necessary

Assure control measures are in place and implemented as needed to ensure safe, wholesome product

Monitor facility and activities to assure compliance with regulatory requirements

Communicate changes to FS/QA personnel and work closely with QA inspectors

Other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Qualifications
- At least two-years’ experience in Food Safety/Quality Assurance, food processing, or related discipline, preferably in a meat manufacturing facility
- Can demonstrate technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food processing, sanitation, and food regulations and policy
- Prior knowledge of food safety, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP
