Director, HR Technology
The Director of HR Technology leads a globally distributed HRIS team and owns Western Union’s HR technology ecosystem within a service‑oriented, employee‑first People function. This role is critical to enabling a rapidly evolving global organization by delivering scalable, secure, and data‑driven HR systems and processes.
In addition to operational excellence, this leader will play a critical role in reimagining simplified, global people processes and driving transformation toward a more scalable HR service delivery model. The Director will partner closely with HR Centers of Excellence—including Payroll, Employee Relations, HR Operations, Talent & Learning, and Talent Acquisition—to modernize how HR services are delivered, increase automation and self‑service, and improve the employee experience at scale.
The role also plays a key part in global M&A activity, ensuring HR systems, data, and processes are aligned and integrated efficiently during acquisitions.
Expertise in Workday is essential. Experience with ServiceNow and Greenhouse is strongly preferred, as these platforms are foundational to the HR technology ecosystem.
Role Responsibilities
HYBRID - Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week .

Salary
The on-target earnings range is $180,000 – 210,000 USD per year, which includes a base salary and short-term and long-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.

Role Responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end HR technology landscape, ensuring platforms are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned to business priorities.
- Provide expert‑level leadership across Workday modules, ensuring strong configuration, governance, and continuous optimization.
- Serve as the primary HR technology partner to HR Centers of Excellence, translating functional needs into system and process solutions.
- Design and implement automated, system‑enabled solutions to complex business and operational challenges.
- Leverage ServiceNow (where applicable) to improve HR service delivery, case management, and operational transparency.
- 10 years of experience in HRIS and/or HR technology within a complex, global organization, preferably in a high‑growth or transformation environment.
- 5 years of experience leading and developing high‑performing, globally distributed teams.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Workday across major HCM modules (required), with demonstrated ownership of configuration, governance, and ongoing optimization.
- Proven experience leading at least one global Workday implementation or reimplementation, including design, deployment, stabilization, and adoption across multiple regions.
- Strongly preferred experience with ServiceNow or similar service management platforms to support scalable HR service delivery models.
- Strongly preferred experience with Greenhouse or similar applicant tracking systems, including integrations with Workday.
- Proven experience reimagining and simplifying global HR processes and enabling transformation to scalable, service‑oriented HR operating models.
- Demonstrated success driving automation, standardization, and system‑enabled process improvements at scale.
- Ability to influence, communicate, and partner effectively with senior leaders, HR COEs, IT, and business stakeholders across regions.
