Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and serving meals that meet individual dietary requirements, including special diets for residents with health conditions or allergies
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to food safety standards and sanitation protocols
- Support food production activities such as chopping, mixing, plating, and portioning to ensure timely meal service
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area through proper sanitation, cleaning, bussing, and waste disposal practices
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines including manual handling procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injuries
- Assist with inventory management by receiving deliveries, storing supplies properly, and tracking food inventory levels
- Provide excellent customer service by serving residents with respect and professionalism while addressing their dietary preferences or concerns
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special health needs
- Experience with food handling safety standards such as JCAHO guidelines and sanitation practices
- Ability to manage time effectively while multitasking in a busy kitchen setting
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and portion control
- Prior experience working with dietary departments or in dietetics is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
