Job Description
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our operations. Under general supervision, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and coordinate various permit processes, assist with safety policies and plans, and comply with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Abide by the Company Safety Program and Policies while performing duties safely
- Understand and become familiar with MSHA regulations, manage MSHA safety plan, records, and submittals
- Assist with developing safety policies and safety plans, coordinate development of policies and plans with supervisors and manager, oversee execution of program policies
- Conduct internal safety audits; inspect and monitor facilities and equipment for MSHA regulatory compliance, work with MSHA inspectors during inspections and audits at all Western Sand & Gravel plants; review citations with inspectors and staff
- Assist in accident investigation and reporting
- Assist in DOT compliance and record keeping
- Coordinate required permits and assure they are done according to standards or needs, develop schedules and processes for permit applications
- Work with contractors and engineers on coordination of designs and submittals to applicable agencies
- Assure contract documents are reviewed and applied as needed, files and monitors permit documents
- Coordinates with various departments and companies to ensure all appropriate permits and regulations are followed
- Performs administrative tasks such as creating and managing documentation, recording and filing of production and plant gradation reports, answering phone calls, etc.
- Travels to company work sites in company provided vehicle to perform duties and tasks
