GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Office Manager – Buildings & Grounds/Supervisor Environmental Services, the Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for the general supervision of the environmental services staff. Key responsibilities also include cleaning and maintaining the Batavia Downs Gaming facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Effectively communicate with and supervise environmental services employees.
2. Assist the Office Manager – Buildings & Grounds/Supervisor Environmental Services with scheduling environmental services employees as needed and plan assigned daily duties accordingly.
3. Follow up on assigned duties to ensure that the premises are being maintained in an orderly and clean manner.
4. Assist in the clean-up of patron accidents or spills on the gaming floor in an efficient and inconspicuous manner.
5. Assist the Office Manager – Buildings & Grounds/Supervisor Environmental Services with the ordering of cleaning supplies as required.
6. Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of cleaning material and supplies.
7. Ensure that the gaming floor is clean and free of debris.
8. Responsible for the hourly cleaning and sign-off of all restroom facilities.
9. Perform limited grounds maintenance such as assisting with clearing entryways and exits of snow and ensuring that all areas are properly salted.
10. Promptly report and clean all spills that occur on the gaming floor, kitchens, restaurants, ITW and office areas.
11. Polish and clean all glass and machine areas on a regular basis.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate. Ability to effectively communicate with people.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED, plus two (2) years in a supervisory position and one (1) year in a cleaning-related field, or an equivalent combination of the foregoing experience and training sufficient to indicate the ability to effectively perform the required duties of the position.
Must complete biohazard training.
Must be approved for and maintain a valid Video Lottery Gaming Service Employee license and racing license issued by the New York State Gaming Commission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a stationary role approximately 25% of the time. This position requires the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds at a time. The person in this position must be able to access and inspect areas of buildings and grounds, including bending to clean and wipe the floor edging as well as climbing to clean the tops of games, windows, and vents. The person in this position must also be able to talk and hear in order to ensure proper communication both in person and over a radio. This position does have moderate exposure to weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and on holidays.
