About the Role
Western Pest Control is seeking a Pest Pro Field Assistant — a true jack of all trades role for someone eager to learn the pest control industry from the ground up. This is an internship-style position designed for individuals who enjoy mechanical work, problem-solving, and working independently while supporting the service team.
This role provides exposure to every part of the business — from equipment maintenance and vehicle inspections to assisting Pest Professionals in the field and coordinating time-sensitive service calls. If you thrive on variety, adaptability, and learning by doing, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Support & Emergency Response
- Assist Pest Professionals on residential and commercial accounts.
- Respond to urgent customer service calls and emergencies, coordinating with the office to manage shifting priorities.
- Fill in on callbacks and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform truck inspections and help resolve vehicle-related issues (e.g., jumpstarting, basic troubleshooting).
- Maintain and repair field equipment including augers, scanners, backpack sprayers, B&G hand sprayers, and pumps.
- Stock and manage rodent stations and pesticide products.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and support warehouse efficiency.
- Routing & Efficiency Support
- Assist the Routing Department with scheduling and emergency fill-ins.
- Help organize and stock technician trucks for maximum route efficiency.
- Communicate with the office about shifting schedules, upcoming emergencies, and priority tasks.
- Learning & Development
- Gain hands-on knowledge of all pesticide products, safety protocols, and field equipment.
- Learn best practices in customer service, routing, and field operations.
- Shadow and support experienced Pest Professionals to understand the business from the inside out.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Mechanically inclined — comfortable with tools, equipment, and basic troubleshooting
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions
- Strong time-management and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently on multiple tasks in fast-paced, time-sensitive situations
- Excellent communication skills with both office staff and field technicians
