Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to provide essential administrative support within a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical office management, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient service. The Medical Secretary will serve as a key point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, facilitating efficient workflow and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Duties
- Manage patient scheduling using electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Will be responsible for collecting essential paperwork and verifying patient information at check in/check out.
- Handle patient inquiries via multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with health information management standards. ensuring documents are scanned and attached to patient record in EHR.
- Support front desk operations by greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling, and coordinating patient intake procedures.
- Perform general clerical tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing medical office supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate accurate documentation review and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Secretary or in a similar medical administrative support role within a clinical or hospital environment.
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills necessary for documentation and office management tasks.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
