Perform ultrasonic diagnostic and vascular procedures.
Essential Functions
- Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician for patients.
- Schedule patients.
- Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Position patient, select appropriate transducer, depending upon depth of field, structure to be identified, etc.
- Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment. Move scanner over specified body area, adjust equipment to focus.
- Assist Physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, etc. Scan patient, mark patients’ body, determine angle for puncture, and assist as necessary maintaining sterile technique.
- Provide Radiologist with good history for diagnosis.
- Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
- Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Maintain department records (patient/other), reports, and files as required.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Keep work area clean, alert department director to equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Attend in services and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
- Technologists will take call.
- Can send images to both cloud systems.
- Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology Program.
- ARDMS certified or registry eligible.
- Current AHA or Red Cross BLS required.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
