Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures in residential properties.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to accurately execute wiring plans.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to complete electrical installations and repairs.
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety standards.
- Diagnose electrical issues using testing devices such as ohmmeters and multimeters; resolve problems promptly.
- Assist with renovation projects by updating or replacing existing wiring systems while minimizing disruption.
- Collaborate with construction teams on site to coordinate electrical work seamlessly within broader building activities.
- Work with low voltage systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and schematics when applicable for specialized installations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including inspection reports and system modifications.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a residential electrician or similar role with a strong understanding of electrical systems in homes.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and safety regulations.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment such as ohmmeters.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately.
- Experience working on construction sites, including framing carpentry or maintenance person tasks is a plus.
- Familiarity with low voltage wiring systems, high voltage applications, and industrial electrician experience is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently using diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively.
- Valid electrician's license or certification as required by local regulations; ongoing training or certifications in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), NEC updates, or high voltage systems are advantageous.
